The town underwater.

Me and my class have been writing about floods up here in Northland and I've been writing about how high were the floods, evacuated families, and pollution.

Northland floods

Heavy rain caused significant flooding around Northland. ... Whangārei District Council chief executive Rob Forlong said the flooding was the worst experienced since the central Whangārei floods of the 1950s. Chris McKeen. Heavy rain caused flooding, slips, and damage to houses and roads in Northland over the weekend this happened on the 17 to the 19 of July.

How high were the floods

Water moving at 9 feet per second 2.7 meters per second, a common speed for flash floods, can move rocks weighing almost a hundred pounds. Flash floods carry debris that elevates their potential to damage structures and injure people.

Evacuated Families

Some families have been stuck in their homes for a couple of days because of the floods. There might have been people next door to them that were stuck in their houses because their house might even be flooded as well. Their cars probably flooded to the roofs. That's how big the floods were, I think.

Pollution

People have heard that there was a lot of pollution going around in our country. People were saying that the sewage water burst out into the freshwater. The sewage water problems were very intense and people could have gotten sick from all the sewage water mixed with our clean water.

Ending

Lastly, in places like Whangarei and moerewa every place in Northland was flooded but mostly moerewa was flooded the most. The bridge in moerwa has really flooded our car nearly made it.

  1. Hi Danielle, I see a mixture of really well written paragraphs based on one idea and some that are copy paste. Remember when we do research we need to paraphrase ideas. You have developed an understanding of third person. Do you stick with it in your summary? Looking forward to reading your next post.
